Words

I loved the power of words to evoke worlds in the minds eye, ear, tastebuds as much as in the soul. As a visual artist I have always played and wrestled with this idea with a multiplicity of pigments and materials, but as a writer this impulse has only recently taken hold. To be honest it has welled up inside until I could no longer contain it; wonder, joy, grief, longing, darkness. Mysteries that can only be experienced, known and evoked never described or defined. Even in the most skilled hands words are only icons, cyphers to deepen our sensitivities to what is and what might be.
